MCB Distribution Board

An MCB distribution board is a distribution box designed to house miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) on a DIN rail, distributing incoming supply into multiple protected final circuits. It provides overcurrent and short-circuit protection per circuit plus a main isolator, and is typically built to IEC 61439.

⚠️ Note: MCB ratings, board rating, and circuit design must be determined by a qualified electrician per local regulations. Protective devices are often supplied separately; confirm what is included. Values are indicative.

FAQ

What is the difference between an MCB distribution board and a consumer unit?
An MCB distribution board is a general board built to accept DIN-rail MCBs and can serve residential, commercial, or small industrial use; a consumer unit is the domestic form of a distribution board. There is significant overlap in construction.
Can it be fitted with RCBOs instead of MCBs?
Many DIN-rail boards accept RCBOs or RCDs in place of, or alongside, MCBs, subject to module width and busbar compatibility. Verify device compatibility with the specific board.
