Gas Water Heater

A gas water heater heats water by burning natural gas or LPG under a heat exchanger or tank. Available as storage or tankless units, it delivers high recovery and continuous hot water, and is popular where gas is cheaper or faster-heating than electricity.

⚠️ Note: Requires correct flue/venting, combustion air, and gas connection by a qualified installer; carbon monoxide and gas-leak risks make ventilation and flame-safety devices mandatory. Confirm against datasheet and local gas code.

Applications

Used in homes and commercial sites with a gas supply and high or continuous hot-water demand. Tankless gas units suit whole-house instantaneous supply where adequate gas flow and venting exist.

FAQ

Do gas water heaters need ventilation?
Yes. Gas water heaters produce combustion gases and must be installed with proper flue/venting and combustion air per local code, so exhaust and carbon monoxide are safely removed. Never install an indoor gas unit without approved venting.
Are gas water heaters more efficient than electric?
They differ. Gas units lose some energy in combustion and flue gases (typically 60–85%, higher for condensing), but gas is often cheaper per unit of heat than electricity. Compare running cost using local fuel prices and datasheet efficiency.
