Is PEX-a better than PEX-b?

PEX-a is the most flexible with expansion fittings and good kink recovery; PEX-b is stiffer and lower cost. Both are valid — choose by fitting system and budget.

Can PEX be used outdoors?

PEX should be protected from UV; it is not for prolonged direct sunlight unless rated. Confirm the product's UV exposure limit.
