PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe is a rigid, low-cost, solvent-welded plastic pipe for COLD water supply and drainage. It is rated to about 60°C and must not be used for hot water, where it loses most of its pressure rating.

FAQ

Can I use PVC for hot water?

No. Standard PVC is rated to about 60°C and its pressure capacity drops sharply as it heats. Use CPVC, PPR or PEX for hot lines.

What is the difference between Schedule 40 and 80 PVC?

Schedule 80 has thicker walls and a higher pressure rating than Schedule 40 at the same diameter; choose by required working pressure.
