What is the difference between a fuse and a circuit breaker?
A fuse melts and must be replaced after a fault, while a circuit breaker trips mechanically and can be reset. Breakers also offer more consistent trip characteristics.
Can one device protect against both overload and earth leakage?
Yes. An RCBO combines the overload/short-circuit protection of an MCB with the earth-leakage detection of an RCCB in a single unit.
What does the trip curve (B, C, D) mean?
It defines how quickly a breaker trips on short-circuit inrush current relative to its rating. B suits resistive loads, C is general purpose, and D handles high inductive inrush such as motors.
