RCCB

A Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) monitors the balance between live and neutral currents and disconnects the supply when earth leakage is detected, protecting people against electric shock and reducing fire risk. It does not provide overload protection.

Does an RCCB protect against overload?
No. An RCCB only detects earth leakage; it must be used together with MCBs (or a fuse) that provide overload and short-circuit protection.
What sensitivity is used for shock protection?
A 30 mA RCCB is commonly specified for additional protection against electric shock on socket and wet-area circuits, as required by many wiring regulations.
