MCB

A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) is a DIN-rail device that automatically disconnects a circuit on overload or short circuit, protecting the cable and downstream equipment. It is the standard breaker for final circuits in residential distribution boards.

Does an MCB protect against electric shock?
No. An MCB protects cabling against overload and short circuit but does not detect earth leakage; use an RCCB or RCBO for shock/earth-fault protection.
How do I choose the current rating?
Size the MCB so its rating is at or below the current-carrying capacity of the protected conductor and above the normal load current, following the wiring regulations.
